The Reserve is open and operating as normal through this period, so please do come and walk and wildlife watch on the Reserve. The works will be concentrated on certain areas around the Kingshill Farm courtyard so this not affect day visitors, please just be aware of any construction vehicles turning in the car park (as with farm machinery).

Will this affect visits to the Reserve

There will be a reduced programme of tours and treatments so Simon, our lead guide is running online workshops. During weekends and school holidays full calendars are open for tour and treatments to book and enjoy

As availability is a little more limited over the next few months, we’ve added a 6 month extension to all gift vouchers, and just a reminder that the expiry date is for the booking date, the stay can be further ahead of this.

Yes, the building will also be used for our regular Friends of Elmley events and wildlife talks, as a warm and comfortable space in the winter months.

Will Friends of Elmley be able to use the space?

The new building will be available for gatherings and events, private, corporate, wellbeing and wedding use for day and overnight events. It provides a much needed all weather space for Elmley, that will be comfortable whatever the weather, and gives a wonderful view over the Reserve. What is the new building for?

Yes, absolutely. An important driver for this new building was to enable the year-round continuation of our fast establishing <a href="https://www.elmleynaturereserve.co.uk/blog/read/grant-awarded-by-the-national-lottery-heritage-fund" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Community Nature Programme</a>. Through HLF funding we have established a programme of school visits, community, health and wellbeing groups in partnership with local organisations.

I run a community group, can we use this space?

Whilst it is a hugely exciting development for Elmley's future it is so important to us that our guests during this period have the most special and peaceful experience. And we have put things in place to ensure any disruption is absolutely minimal to guests.

We have closed mid-week
stays (Mon-Thurs) during the programme, with the exception of school holidays
and the Christmas period, and confirmed with our contractor that no building
work will take place from Friday afternoons until after 10.30am on Mondays, so
you can be assured that there will be no noise disturbances. During school
holidays and from February onwards, we aim that all works will be internal, so
noticeable activity will be very minimal. The Reserve and our guests experiences will all be operating, so along with enjoying beautiful views and nature sounds from your hut, you can walk and wildlife watch on the Reserve, treat yourself to wellbeing treatments and wildlife tours, have our lovely warm meals delivered, and relax with a tea, or a drink from the honesty bar in front of the wood burner in the Linhay barn. 
The works will be concentrated on certain areas so around the Kingshill Farm courtyard you will notice building works hoarding, and some additional equipment but please be assured that guests areas will be accessible, well signed and safe.

Will the developments affect my stay?

Yes, we are open for stays during the works (Oct '25 to April '26) but to ensure minimum disruption to our guests we are only open at weekends and during school holiday periods.
