Home cooked food
If you don’t fancy cooking, just relax and we can deliver our scrumptious supper baskets and breakfast rolls to your hut door. All food is locally sourced and home-cooked.
Wrap up in the chunky woollen throws and toast marshmallows over Samphire’s cast iron fire pit, and watch the moonlight on the water in this wilderness hideout.
Wood burning stove
Enjoy a slower place of life with the wood burning stove and enjoy cosy cups of tea while you play scrabble in bed.
Make your stay even more relaxing with bespoke rejuvenating massages and reiki treatments
The design and development of this traditionally crafted shepherd’s hut is fully sustainable and complements our eco-friendly approach.
Note to past guests: Kingshill Farmhouse, the original farmhouse here at Elmley, has recently had planning permission granted which is very exciting news for us! Renovation work is due to start this Spring. As Samphire was located next to the farmhouse we have made the decision to move it to an exciting new location away from the potentially noisy building work as the comfort and quality of your stay is our priority. Samphire itself will remain the same with the existing facilities. The new location looks out onto the breath-taking marsh and Swale estuary which is a perfect spot to sit back and watch wildlife.
Georgina and Gareth
We moved to Elmley, Georgina’s family farm, in 2013 and opened the shepherd’s huts in 2014. Having moved to Elmley from busy office jobs we know the importance of a few days’ escape and know that Elmley is just the place to relax and reinvigorate in peace, breath-taking views and fresh air. Along with Richard at Plankbridge (http://www.plankbridge.com/) we designed the huts to make the most of the views and to be as comfortable as possible. We aim to make sure stays are just what you need, whether it be quiet and relaxed or fun and adventurous. We've thought of most things, but if there is anything else you’d like, just ask.
We have two young children and live on the farm along with Max, the farm terrier, a number of chickens and hopefully soon some pigs. You’ll see Gareth out on the quad bike most days, working with the livestock and surveying the wildlife, so do ask if you’d like a tour or have any questions about the farm.
