A vast wilderness. Elmley’s spectacular landscape, soul stirring skies and breath-taking wildlife provide a truly inspirational escape.
Elmley is, at its heart, a family run farm with a long-term vision to restore nature and a commitment to the sustainability of the landscape and land.
Elmley Nature Reserve is a special place - 3,300 acres of wonderful wilderness and breath-taking beauty on an island in North Kent, 40 miles from London. It is a family farm, and 40 years ago Philip and Corinne Merricks, were pioneering farmers, who worked tirelessly to make Elmley such an important site for wildlife by restoring nature to the entire estate.
We (Gareth and Georgina, Philip and Corinne's daughter and son-in-law), moved to Elmley in 2013. We are continuing Philip and Corinne's work in enabling nature to flourish and increasing biodiversity alongside restoring the rich historical heritage of Elmley.
We are very pleased to share Elmley Nature Reserve with visitors old and new, with our local community and visitors from far afield. And we are passionate about developing new ways for people to discover Elmley and its abundant wildlife.
Elmley Nature Reserve is an extraordinary place to discover, to gather, marry, unwind, and connect with nature. With sustainability at the heart of everything we do, Elmley has beautiful and thoughtfully designed places to stay, bespoke service, huge skies, unforgettable wildlife experiences.
From Gareth and me, and all of the team at Elmley we hope you enjoy the wildlife, landscape, and long heritage at this unique place, an escape unlike any other. We hope to see you soon.
